7 Pillars to Build a Personal Brand as a Leader
“Many men may see the King in a Kid but it takes a true leader to nurture it”
I define Personal Branding as the combination of one’s skills and talents to produce value for people that creates an impression, a perception and reputation in the mind of others.
Benefits of Personal Branding for Leaders
- It puts you in the lead; you become ‘Top-of-Mind’ in issues relating to your niche.
- It enhances your credibility: widely known people are perceived to be credible and when you work with integrity and authenticity you will become a sought-after leader. A credible leader.
- It helps you raise other great leaders; people will trust and respect you.
1. Purpose: Vision
Voice | Insight | Serve | Inspire | Organize | Nurture
Where there is no vision, the people perish. —Proverbs 29:18
2. Principle: Values
Richard Branson said that, he asked someone who worked close to Madiba, what made him such a great leader. The respond was this: “He is always consistently honest. He says the same thing behind closed doors as he does to someone’s face. His actions come from the perspective of what’s right for someone in the village. He has no personal agenda.”
3. Practice: Service, “”A leader is one who knows the way, goes the way, and shows the way.” – John C
“Outstanding leaders go out of their way to boost the self-esteem of their personnel. If people believe in themselves, it’s amazing what they can accomplish. —Sam Walton
5. Protection: Security
6. Promotion: Reward
7. Preservation: Legacy
“I start with the premise that the function of leadership is to produce more leaders, not more followers. —Ralph Nader
